Beaches

Walk away from the public beach along the shoreline or across the island to find idyllically secluded Caribbean beaches. National Parks
Top Samana excursions feature two fabulous national parks. The Haitises National Park features ancient caves, rock carvings and amazingly large mangrove trees. For hiking and horse riding trails head for the remote and unspoilt Cabo Cabron National Park. Also worthwhile are visits to local coconut plantations and the fishing village of Las Terrenas. The Dominican Republic sees the arrival of over 4000 hump-backed whales every winter. The best time to see humpbacked whales in Samana is from January to March.
