For hiking and horse riding trails head for the remote and unspoilt Cabo Cabron National Park. Exciting mangrove trips are offered in the Haitises National Park. The fishing village of Las Terrenas is picturesque, while the small town of Samana offers a taste of genuine Dominican Republic street life.
Water Sports
Snorkelling is a delight at all Cayo Levantado beaches. You may also find opportunities to take up wind surfing and kite surfing. Cabarete, to the east, is a top international windsurfing centre. There are excellent diving opportunities in the Samana region, with caves, wrecks and coral reefs. There are good shallow dives for beginners. Keen divers will find the Samana coast offers some of the most adventurous diving in the Dominican Republic, notably the Cabo Samana Cliff.
