Cayo Largo Things To Do

The main attraction of any Cayo Largo holiday, the island's stunning beaches are long and pristine, with soft white sands and crystal-clear waters - ideal for uninterrupted sunbathing and soaking up the glorious Caribbean sunshine.  

There's first-class scuba-diving here in Caya Largo, with the offshore coral reefs boasting over 30 dive sites. Warm waters and excellent visibility create wonderful conditions for diving, and the island offers tuition and equipment for all levels. Non-divers can also experience the underwater beauty on a snorkelling expedition. Perfect for a diving holiday.

 

As well as diving, Caya Largo offers facilities for water sports such as pedalos, windsurfing, kayaking and catamaran sailing, available from the beach and the marina. Fishing is a popular pastime, with the waters full of bonefish and tarpon, and the resort offers deep-sea fishing expeditions.

 

Boat trips around the island are a wonderful way to spend a day, with catamarans and sailboats offering a peaceful view of the coastline, and the chance to visit some of the other neighbouring islands.

 

Hotels offer swimming pools, tennis and volleyball, and a host of exercise classes and dance and Spanish lessons, with bowling in the resort. Beach walks along the sands are popular, as are horse riding and mountain biking, and jeeps and scooters can be hired to explore the island.

 

Cayo Largo is rich in local flora and fauns, and there are various nature walks to take to take in the stunning natural setting, and bird-watching in the mangrove swamps. Visit the turtle breeding protection project or the environmental project at the Forest of Caya Largo, or take a boat ride to Cayo Iguana, a tiny island inhabited solely by iguanas.

 

There are day trips to the capital, Havana, and to the colonial Trinidad, for a taste of Cuban history and culture, and the chance for shopping in the colourful markets for gifts and souvenirs, such as cigars and rum.
