Christ Church is the second most populated parish of Barbados. As the southern-most administrative district of the island, it gives access to many of the most spectacular beaches. Oistins town for great fish and evening entertainment
The town of Oistins is a hub of activity within Christ Church. It’s home to a major Barbadian fishing community and the Oistins Fish Festival takes place here every Easter. Staying here, or making a day trip, you’ll see local fishermen hauling in their catch, and women at work preparing and selling a massive array of fish and seafood at the market. The Friday and Saturday night ‘Fish Fry’ attraction is a must. On these nights visitors and locals head into Oistins to feast on the freshest fried, grilled and barbecued fish, accompanied by macaroni pie and sweet potato. In all the beach resorts of Christ Church you will hear lilting Caribbean music, enjoy beach barbecues under the stars, and try traditional Bajan food, washed down with tropical cocktails or cool local beers.
Christ Church Weather
Winter temperatures in Christ Church average around 28C in December and January making it the perfect time to take festive sunshine break. The sun will be shining down for around nine hours per day at this time of the year and you can swim in the warm Caribbean Sea on Christmas Day. The annual evening temperatures are a balmy 22C making it perfect for dining in the open air restaurants or participating in late night beach parties. Barbados is drier than most of the other Caribbean islands and is not usually troubled by tropical storms making it the ideal year round sunshine destination.
