Although Bodrum does not have a beach of its own, beach-lovers will be spoilt for choice as there are many sandy beaches along this coastline. Nearby Gümbet or Bitez are best for sand, sea and all the beach facilities you need. Both are just a few miles away.
Bodrum holidays - fascinating coastal town catering for all
The 15th century Castle of St Peter is the centre point of Bodrum. Its mediaeval turrets dominate the town, which consists of bustling streets, a traditional Turkish bazaar, and even a Museum of Underwater Archaeology - the only one of its kind in Turkey. To the west of Bodrum is a deep, enclosed harbour and marina, with fishing boats, and countless charter sail boats. On the other side of the peninsula is a wider, more open bay which is also worth exploring, particularly for its romantic waterside restaurants.Boat trips can be taken from Bodrum to the Greek Islands of Kos and Rhodes, but remember to take you passport if embarking on a cross-border jaunt.
