What’s the best of Barcelona? Where can you stay and eat in style without breaking the bank? And how can you avoid becoming a victim of the city’s notorious pickpockets? Suzanne Wales, a travel expert who lives in the city, has done her research.
Barcelona is a city that simply can’t stand still. Ever since it came out and proud for the 1992 Olympic Games, it has remained Spain’s most liberal and forward-thinking city. In the last two decades, the physical, cultural and emotional changes have been enormous, and the wheels keep turning. With such flux, the web has proved to be enormous value in getting the ultimate best out of Barcelona.

I couldn’t live without… my first aid kit

What are the things you always take on your holiday with you? We asked experts and our customers what they couldn’t live without on holiday. Dublin city breaks holidays expert Nicola Brady explains what she always takes with her on her travels.
It’s not something to be proud of, but far too many of my holidays have included a trip to the hospital. This is mostly because I am both clumsy and accident prone, with an unusually severe allergy to insect bites. From concussions at Gatwick to stomach bugs in Kenya, I’ve seen my fair share of medical drama when travelling.
While a medical emergency is rarely the highlight of a trip, my past experiences have helped me to become the queen of preparation when it comes to first aid. I rarely travel without my trusted kit, which keeps the impact of any incident to a minimum. Over time, I’ve perfected my supply and now have it down to a fine art, without taking up too much space in my suitcase.
