Animated Croatia beach resort
Rabac is an atmospheric resort prettily set on a small bay in northern Croatia. It’s been popular with discerning tourists since the early 20th century, drawn by the picturesque harbour, healthy climate and fine beaches. The original fishing village and harbour still retain considerable charm. Cafes and bars sit alongside outstanding restaurants serving regional cuisine and Italian specialities. The accommodation is a typically Croatian mix of campsites, apartments, villas and beach hotels. For a quiet break, choose one of the country hotels inland. Younger visitors might wish to plan their trip here around the town’s summer music festivals. May sure you include a visit to the medieval fortress town of Labin, now a rather trendy, artistic attraction in its own right, with interesting cafes, galleries and museums.
Attractive beach promenades
Rabac has an excellent reputation for cleanliness. There are fine beaches around the town, plus tiny inlets and coves for idyllic snorkelling. Local beaches also offer rewarding windsurfing, waterskiing and diving. For a livelier beach try Girandella Beach. Long pleasant promenades connect the various local beaches and are a popular feature of Rabac nightlife.
Visit Istria beach resorts and islands
There are fine coast paths and forest trails for walkers – for more serious walking, mountain biking and climbing, head to Skitaca and the beautifully unspoilt scenery of the Brijuni and Plitvice Lakes National Parks. Don’t miss out on the Postojna caves and a romantic cruise to the island of Cres. You could also visit islands like Cres, Losinj, and Krk, and a string of attractive beach resorts that include Pula, Rovinj, Porec, Umag, Ruzici and Opatija.
If you like to sunbathe on the beach for hours then Rabac will not disappoint. From June to September the temperatures will be over 25C and the sun will be shining for around 10 to 12 hours per day. July and August are the hottest months of year with the heat creeping up and over the 30C mark. April, May and October are cooler but you can still expect the temperature to be around 20C. Sea temperature during the summer months will be well over 20C; perfect for swimming, snorkelling and diving. The nights are warm during the summer months and perfect for open air discos and cool drinks on the terraces.
