Mljet Island is full of interest and beauty, there are wonderful, ancient villages set into the hillside and overlooking the picturesque lakes and busy little fishing villages along the coast supplying fresh fish to the local restaurants. Balbino Polje is the largest village on the holiday resort of Mljet and Odysseus’s cave is located below the village. There is one hotel on the island of Mljet at Pomena, from here it is possible to hire cars, scooters or bikes to get around the island, and there is also a limited bus service. It is also possible to visit the nearby island of Korcula, another destination of beautiful beaches and historical sights.

Mljet Weather
The weather in Mljet can be very warm during the summer months and sun shines down on this area of Croatia from April to October. Temperatures in Mljet can head up to the 30C mark from June to September and they will rarely dip below 25C. There is very little rainfall during the summer months and you can expect a dry and hot climate. Winters in Mljet are also mild with temperatures generally hovering between 10C and 15C.
