Krk Things to do

Beaches
Krk holidays wouldn't be complete without a trip to the beaches, and Croatia's largest island has the longest beaches in the Adriatic, at Baška. The water here is stunningly clear, making Krk a great place for beach holidays. Pack your flip-flops, though, as pebbles rather than sand are the order of the day on some beaches.

Water Sports

Baška is also a fine venue for snorkelling and other water sports such as parasailing, jet-skiing and windsurfing. Naturist holidays at Krk are available at Konobe beach, near Punat.

Exploring

Krk family holidays offer a great opportunity for exploring. Children will love the boat taxis that take you to secluded coves dotted around the island. A godsend for anyone taking holidays in Krk, this service saves hours of walking over tough terrain. You'll be dropped off mid-morning and picked up at teatime. Explore the coves, walk the cliffs, swim in clear water, then potter over to the local seafood restaurants for lunch.

Monasteries, Mountains & Medieval Villages

If you fancy a break from the beach on your Krk holiday, there's plenty to occupy you. Punat is close to the Košljun island and monastery, the bay at Baška sits beneath a beautiful mountain range and, in the south, Vrbnik is a medieval village famed for its wine production.

Eating Out

Holidays in Krk provide a gastronomic treat, and the fish and steak restaurants at Baška come highly recommended.

Other Activities

Nature lovers will enjoy the chance to trek on horseback through the hills and vineyards, while historians can visit St Lucia’s abbey at Jurandvor, where the Stone Tablet of Baška was discovered 900 years ago – the oldest written record of the Croatian language. Holidays in Krk should include Krk town itself, with its cathedral, summer festival and variety of bars and restaurants.
