Brac Things to do

Beaches
The beautiful island of Brac boasts a vast coastline of small hidden coves and lovely sandy beaches. Perhaps the best beach on the whole Adriatic can be found here, Zlarni rat - the Golden Horn beach - a spectacular stretch of golden shingle with a unique shape that changes according to the wind and the tide.

Water sports
The island is known for its huge choice of watersports such as jet skiing, pedalos, banana boat rides, kayaking, water-skiing and parasailing. The warm sunny weather and wind also create great conditions for both windsurfing and surfing, and sailing is popular from many of the islands' natural harbours.

Scuba diving
Diving can be enjoyed around the island, and the Adriatic, with its calm clear waters, boasts a rich underwater landscape. There is a wide variety of reefs, wrecks and caves, all filled with a rich array of fish and marine life, and plenty of dive sites around the coastline. Bol is the main diving area, offering all manner of courses and instruction for all levels.

Sports
Tennis facilities are extensive on the island, with over 20 courts and a huge stadium seating almost 2,000 people, which hosts the annual Croatian Ladies Open tournament. Other sports include volleyball, basketball and football.

Mountain sports
The scenic mountains of Brac, including the highest peak of Vidova Gora at 780m, are a major attraction, and offer excellent paths and trails for hiking, mountain biking and horse-riding. Mountaineers and climbers will find plenty of challenges here, and descending from the top is a favourite with paragliders.

Sights
With a long history Brac offers plenty of sights to see, and the island is dotted with archaeological remains from its various occupations, with many Roman ruins, tombs and villas. Tourist attractions include the monasteries at Bol and Blaca, the fascinating Dragons Cave, the  Brac Museum in Skrip and the the quarries found all over the island. Bol and Supetar are the main towns with most to offer, but there are charming little villages all over this compact island, such as Milna and Sumartin, which are worth a visit. Ferry connections to the mainland are excellent, with a day trip to Split recommended.
