The sandy beaches are the main feature on a holiday in St Vlas, with three for sun-seekers to choose from, and the resort enjoying a quiet family-orientated atmosphere on the 'Bulgarian Riviera'. The country's largest resort, Sunny Beach, is just 5km away, and offers a much busier scene on its Blue Flag beach.

 

St Vlas boasts a brand yacht marina - the largest in Bulgaria, with dockage for 300 yachts. Here, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of boat trips, including pirate cruises and fishing trips, and rent yachts, as well as stroll around the new boutiques, bars and restaurants on the waterfront.

 

Jet-skiing, pedalos, water-skiing and windsurfing can be enjoyed on the beach, and there are facilities such as swimming pools, tennis courts, and gyms, with golf courses nearby, and facilities for horse riding. Sunny Beach offers a number of family activities such as mini-golf, go-carting and trampolining.

 

Located at the foot of the Balkan Mountains, the village of St Vlas is ideal for cycling holidays, with the lush woodlands of the mountains offering varied terrain and trails for avid riders.

 

Families will enjoy the two local water parks, at Nessebar and Sunny Beach, which offer a range of extreme water attractions and rides, with free shuttle buses available from St Vlas.

 

Dining options in St Vlas vary from local Bulgarian cuisine featuring grilled meats and salads, to more familiar international fare, and include plenty of fresh fish and seafood. Folklore evenings are popular, with traditional dancing and local performances.

 

For a busier resort, head to Sunny Beach, with its bustling scene, and varied entertainment options, or for a taste of local history, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Nessebar - an interesting day trip, with its ancient town centre with cobbled streets, Byzantine churches and museums. Other day trips include the ancient town of Sozopol, home of the oldest Greek colony on the Black Sea, or a longer trip to Istanbul.
