Located in the upper Pauznan valley of Austrian Tyrol, Galtur is a popular winter holidays destination. The medieval village has a small population of around 800 people, helping to keep the area relaxed, and indeed it has a typically unhurried and peaceful mountain aura. Traditionally known as a winter sports destination famed for its miles and miles of perfect pistes, Galtur has become an increasingly popular summer destination due to the stunning scenery which attracts more and more hikers and mountain bikers and other alpine sports enthusiasts every year. Galtur can be reached from Innsbruck airport 110 kilometres to the east which is served by a number if airlines including EasyJet and British Airways.

The highest resort in the Pauzanan valley, Galtur boasts 40 kilometres of slopes, mainly catering to those of beginner and intermediate levels. For those after a little more daring skiing there is night skiing offered, however this is not for the faint hearted. The nearby Ischgl ski resort is larger and more varied and a free bus service operates between the two resorts. A kindergarten and ski school are available for those aged 3 and up and 4 and up respectively, meaning that parents can take full advantage of the pistes knowing that their little ones are in capable and experienced hands.
