Holidays from Bournemouth Airport

Bournemouth airport destinations

Within Britain you can fly from Bournemouth to Guernsey and Jersey. There are countless exciting destinations across Europe too, all accessible direct, including several Spanish cities, Turkish resorts and cities, various destinations in France, Greece, Eire, Croatia and Finland. You can fly direct to Portugal, the Canaries, Madeira and Switzerland plus Italy, Malta, Cyprus and Poland. Further afield, the airport handles flights to and from hot, exotic Barbados, Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, and New York in the USA.

Bournemouth airport basics

Bournemouth airport first opened its doors as RAF Hurn in 1941, home to Spitfires, Wellingtons and Typhoons. In June 2010 the new Departures terminal opened, after a huge redevelopment programme worth £45 million. The new terminal is twice as large as the original and in February 2011 the airport was voted the ‘most improved airport in Europe’ for customer satisfaction. In June the same year it won another award, this time from ACI Europe, for ‘Best Airport in Europe’ in the 1-5 million passenger category. A new Arrivals Terminal opened in 2011, Europe's first carbon neutral airport building.

There’s an hourly airport shuttle bus service between the town centre and the airport that runs seven days a week, dropping off and picking up at the Travel Interchange, East Cliff, the Pier, the Square, the Aviation Business Park and Adventure Wonderland. Your journey time is 12 minutes. You can find out more here.
By train

The airport is convenient for local trains to the mainline rail network. Bournemouth railway station is at the Travel Interchange, from where you can pick up an hourly shuttle bus (see above).

By car

There are excellent road links to and from the airport, with journey times of just 75 minutes from the M25. You’ll find clear, frequent signposting to the airport, which is just off the A338. If you’re using SatNav the postal code is BH23 6SE.

More than twenty tour operators and airlines fly out of Bournemouth airport, to a broad choice of fabulous destinations both within the UK and abroad. Bear in mind that Car Park 2 is closed for the winter - use Car Park 1 instead. There are dedicated parking spaces for Blue Badge holders in Car Park 1. All Bournemouth airport’s car parks have been awarded Park Mark security status, so your vehicle will be safe and secure.
