Things To Do
Beach
The beach is the main focus for every visitor to Galu, with the resort offering a quieter alternative to the livelier Diani Beach - just 15 minutes away. An idyllic tropical base on the Indian Ocean, the beach is lined with white sands, a coral reef and swaying palms - all creating a tranquil and relaxing base for guests looking for the ultimate African getaway.
Water Sports
There's an excellent water sports centre on Galu Beach, with facilities for scuba-diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, kite-surfing and jet-skiing available. Big-game fishing and traditional 'dhow' sailboats trips can be enjoyed by visitors, as can glass-bottomed boat rides.
Sports & Leisure
An 18-hole golf course is close by, and hotels on the beach offer facilities such as swimming pools, tennis courts, fitness centres, squash, volleyball and table tennis. Some of the more up market accommodation options have spas and beauty salons.
Nature
Galu Beach is well-known for its variety of unusual birdlife, and is a great spot for some peaceful bird watching. It's also one of the last places that the endangered species, the Colobus monkey, can be spotted in the wild, as well as a great variety of other monkeys and baboons. Go to one of the local marine parks in the south, such as Kisite, for fantastic snorkelling to view a host of colourful fish.
Safari
Combine a stay at Galu Beach with a memorable safari or game drive, with a number of options available. Choose from Shimba Hills, Tsavo East and West National Parks, Ambroseli and Masai Mara for a unique experience and the chance to view 'the big five'.
Day Trips
Don't miss a trip to the historic Mombasa, a vibrant seaport city in Kenya just along the coast, where visitors can soak up the diverse culture of the city in its charming Old Town. Travel to a local village and learn about the local people and the traditional Masai culture.
