Zululand Holidays
The region of Zululand in South Africa lies in the KwaZulu-Natal province, within easy reach of Durban, and stretches from the Tugela River in the south up to the border of Mozambique. An area rich in history and culture, Zululand is most known as the site for the bloody battles that the Zulus fought between both the Boers and the British, and today this fascinating part of South Africa is alive with conservation areas, game reserves and beautiful beaches.

Holidays in Zululand - Game reserves, stunning beaches, and a wealth of history and culture
Visitors to Zululand will find a region full of immense natural beauty and wonderful wildlife, and experience a taste of the real Africa, in its' traditional rural towns where the Zulu culture is very much alive. The capital of Zululand is Ulundi, a friendly town proud of its' heritage, and home to the eMakhosini Valley of the Kings, the traditional burial ground of the former Zulu kings. Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, famous for bringing the white rhino back from the brink of extinction, is the largest game reserve in the region and is home to the 'Big Five', and offers thrilling wilderness trails. Other reserves in Zululand include Ndumo, Mkuzi and Ithala where visitors can see a wealth of other bird and animal life. Another popular area for tourists to visit is the Greater St. Lucia Wetland area - a diverse region of wetlands, lakes, rain forests and beautiful beaches - which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage SIte.

Holidays in Zululand - Visit the Zulu battlefields or a typical Zulu village
Zululand, and KwaZulu-Natal, boasts a year-round sub-tropical climate, with the warm dry winter an ideal time to visit. Visitors to Zululand can make their trip as relaxing or as exhilarating as they choose, with the area offering everything from long glorious beaches for sunbathing, and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean for swimming, snorkelling and scuba-diving, to adventurous white-water river-rafting trips, horse-back rides and 4 x 4 tours through the bush. Deep-sea fishing trips are available from the beaches, and whilst in Zululand visitors can enjoy dolphin and seasonal whale-watching. Explore the turbulent past of the battlefields, such as Isandlwana and Rorkes' Drift, with informed guides who offer tours of these famous Zulu battlefields and military sites, with their memorials and museums. Many cultural Zulu villages can be visited to show how the tribes have lived for centuries, and tourists can experience the traditional food and drink of the villages, whilst watching a symbolic Zulu dance.
