Yalikavak is an attractive seaside town on the north west coast of the Bodrum Peninsula in Turkey, 17 km from Bodrum. This region is known as the Turkish Riviera, famed for clear sparkling seas, great sunsets, and family friendly beaches. Yalikavak lies where the Aegean meets the Mediterranean. The town was and still is an important fishing centre and many inhabitants used to work as sponge divers. Today Yalikavak is visited by families and couples looking for a relaxed beach holiday, and is also popular with the yachting fraternity, as Yalikavak boasts an extensive marina alongside its picturesque old harbour. Yalikavak is about 50 km from Bodrum Airport (BJV).

During your stay in Yalikavak, you will see wonderful displays of fresh fish in the markets, shops and restaurants, and a visit to the harbour to meet the fishing boats on their return is always fascinating. The town of Yalikavak has a population of around 6,800 people. Its centre is traffic-free, and there is a weekly fruit, vegetable and clothing market here. At night, Yalikavak harbour becomes lively with late bars, and a handful of discos.

The beach at Yalikavak is small, so al fresco dining and leisurely exploration of the town are more common pursuits here. There are plenty of excellent beaches in the area though. From Yalikavak, head to Gumbet, Bitez, Turgutreis, or Gumusluk, to name just a few neighbouring resorts. From Yalikavak there are opportunities to try sailing and windsurfing, and of course for culture there are countless options. Bodrum Castle and the town’s Museum of Underwater Archaeology are fascinating as are the ancient sites of Pamukkale and Ephesus.
