Yaiza Things To Do

Lanzarote's famous volcanic past is very much evident in the pretty village of Yaiza, where the lunar landscape offers a unique setting for a holiday, boasting a little of everything with the beach, the mountains, lush vineyards and a dramatic national park on its doorstep. 

 

There are a number of beaches to visit whilst on a holiday in Yazia, with Playa Blanca, Papagayo and Puerto del Carmen all a short drive from the town. Water sports available at the beaches include windsurfing, water-skiing, jet skiing, snorkelling, scuba diving, sailing and fishing.  

 

Yaiza is ideally placed to follow the Volcano Route and visit Timanfaya National Park, which covers one-third of the island, and offers fascinating landscapes completely made up of volcanic soil, with craters, and lavafields. The park is home to a limited number of footpaths and a road that allows coaches to travel through.

 

A unique way of touring the park is by camel - an unforgettable way to travel - along the special camel route which runs through the national park.

 

Whether it's through the volcanic landscapes, along the dramatic beaches or past the charming authentic villages, Yaiza is a great base for a walking holiday, with the spectacular scenery and ideal climate creating fantastic conditions.

 

Avid golfers can choose from two courses on Lanzarote - the closest to Yaiza being the 18-hole course in Tias, 15 minutes from the village, with the other in Costa Teguise, located 25 minutes away.   

 

Yaizi is home to a riding school which offers pony treks and rides for all levels - an ideal way to explore this area of natural beauty.

 

The village is also well-placed for following the islands Wine Routes, being close to La Geria, the major site of Lanzarote's wine production. Visitors can tour the vineyards and cellars, and enjoy tasting sessions of the island's best vintages.

 

20km away from Yaiza, is Teguise, displaying local culture in its traditional square, castle and churches, as well as a water park for the family on the coast. Boat trips across to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura are available from the harbour at Playa Blanca.
