Staying in one of the many villas on the market today is a hugely popular way to spend a holiday, with a huge number of choices to suit all tastes and budgets. There are everything from luxury villas to budget villas, exclusive villas to last minute villas, but all offering a sense of comfort and convenience, and flexibility for guests. The Mediterranean is a popular choice for many holiday villas, with the many private properties dotted along the coastline and in the countryside boasting a sense of seclusion and contentment for their lucky guests. 

 

Relaxing in a private villa, and basking in glorious summer sunshine is the epitome of a great holiday for many each year, and a particular favourite with families with children, as villas offer a relaxing base to call home for the duration of the holiday, and a place to reconnect and spend quality time together. Most villas are detached homes, usually built in the traditional style of the landscape, whether it be white-washed with flat roof along the Andalucian coastline or a sprawling stone farmhouse nestled in the Tuscan hillside. Staying in villas means a huge level of flexibility for guests, who aren't restricted by meal-times or restaurant hours, and can do exactly what they like, when they like. Usually featuring a private swimming pool, holidays in villas mean plenty of lounging around sunbathing and leisurely drinks on the patio, as well as the thrill of enjoying your own personal views, and indulging in lively meals around the dinner table. With a full kitchen, villas offer a sense of independence for guests, who can choose to prepare gourmet dinners every day, make limited use of the cooking facilities for snacks and quick meals such as breakfasts, or opt for eating out daily. Villas are usually rented out on a week or fortnightly basis, with guests booking their own flights and transfers, although complete packages are widely available, too.  

 

Travellers are spoilt for choice when it comes to villas each season, with private properties all over the world for rent. Head to established villa destinations such the sunny shores of southern Spain or the Algarve in Portugal for an extensive choice of villas, in regions such as Costa del Sol, Costa Dorada and Costa Almeria, as well as the islands of Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza. France and Italy, in particular the Cote d'Azur, Tuscany and Umbria, are well-known for their upmarket villas, whilst Greece, Turkey and Croatia offer idyllic bases in the sun. Further afield, head to destinations such as Florida, the Caribbean and the Far East for exotic villas.
