Veranda Beach Hotel Weather

The Veranda Beach Hotel enjoys a stunning location on the northwest coast of Mauritius, close to the town of Grand Bay. The area experiences a hot tropical climate, with plenty of high temperatures and sunshine, and is a year-round destination. Mauritius experiences two seasons - summer, which runs from November to April, and winter from May to October - with the temperatures not fluctuating dramatically, but the levels of rainfall varying.

 

Summer temperatures on the north coast of Mauritius average from 29C - 30C, and the resort enjoys 8 hours of sunshine each day. Humidity levels are highest from December to April, with Veranda Beach Hotel seeing cooling coastal breezes to temper the heat slightly. Water temperatures reach 28C during the summer months. Rain usually occurs in the afternoons, with the wettest period being from January to March, when the resort sees between 190mm - 242mm each month. Mauritius can see cyclones during the year, especially during January and March, which can bring heavy rain and wind to the area.

 

Winters experience slightly lower temperatures, with June, July and August seeing highs of 25C, and 7 hours of sunshine. The least amount of rain falls from August to November, with just 50mm received in the driest months of September and October. Thanks to its northern position, the beach at Veranda Beach Hotel is protected and remains sheltered from the south-east trade winds that blow across the island.
