Get out of Venice!
Unsurprisingly the rest of the Veneto region is amazingly free of tourists! Visit beautiful vineyards, charming medieval walled towns like Montagnana and Cittadella, the Venice-like port of Chioggia, the Palladian villas and the superb castle at Soane.

Romantic Cities
With so much attention on Venice you will find romantic, historic Veneto cities blissfully uncrowded. Gorgeous Verona was the stage for Romeo and Juliet. Vicenza, packed with Renaissance treasures, is one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. Dazzling Treviso has stunning architecture. Padua is a paradise for Renaissance art, with Giotto's frescoes in the Scrovegni Chapel.

Beaches
The Venetian Riviera has beautiful, long sandy beaches like Rosolina Mare. The popular Veneto beach resort of Lido di Jesolo has 9 miles of superb sand and offers children’s attractions, entertainment, nightlife and a good insight into beach holidays Italian style.

Food and Wine
Veneto food is famous throughout Italy. Innumerable family restaurants, osterie and tratorie serve polenta, risotto and superb seafood. Touring the vineyards is a charming way to discover areas of Veneto to rival Tuscany, like the beautiful Valpolicella valley. Veneto wines include Valpolicella, Soave and the sparkling white Prosecco. The wine capital Soave is an outstandingly picturesque walled town in its own right. Wash it all down with a grappa in Bassano del Grappa.

Art
Art enthusiasts cannot possibly hope to see all the glorious art in Veneto in one trip. Obvious stops like the Accademia in Venice should be complemented by famous Veneto cities like Verona and Padua. The joy of Veneto holidays is just happening on works of the likes of Tintoretto, Titian, Giotto, Canaletto, Piero della and Francesca.

Mountains, Lakes and Islands
The Dolomites are part of the Alps. Charming villages and superb walking, with views to Austria and the Adriatic. The pre-Alp foothills are particularly picturesque. Lake Garda provides a beautiful mountain setting for watersports, walking and horse riding.  Visit charming lagoon islands near Lido di Jesolo, like Murano, Burano and Torcella.
