Vathy Weather

The largest settlement on Ithaca, Vathy boasts an average of 13 hours sunshine per day in the summer.  In the peak summer months of July and August the temperatures can climb to 30C and above and feels slightly warmer than the rest of Ithaca as Vathy is surrounded on three sides by hills. A holiday base in Vathy means that many beaches are accessible by taxi or hire car. The fabulous horseshoe bay of Kioni or the beaches of Filiatro and Dexa are not too far and the summer temperature of 30C is perfect for sunbathing and swimming. Due to the warm coastal breeze, the temperature never feels oppressive and with the inviting turquoise waters close by, snorkelling is a great experience.
