Weather in Varca - Tropical climate in quieter region of South Goa
Varca sits in the quiet region of South Goa, just 5km from Benaulim, and experiences a wonderful tropical climate, with plenty of hot weather and glorious sunshine. The resort does not see a huge variation in temperature throughout the year; however the weather is affected by the monsoon which begins in June and runs until September. Peak season in Varca is during the British winters, from November to March.
Varca Weather - Abundance of sunshine and hot days in the winter months
November sees the start of the tourist season, with highs of 33C and 9 hours of sunshine each day. During the winter months, up until March, the days remain hot with an abundance of sunshine, and virtually no rainfall at all. Humidity is at its lowest during this time, and although the weather is intense, the cooling breezes from the Arabian Sea help to temper the high heat. The water temperature is a very warm 28C, ideal for swimming, and at night visitors can expect highs of around 20C.
Weather in Varca - Monsoon begins in June and runs till September
The temperatures in Varca begins to rise slightly in March, bringing higher humidity levels and the start of the wet weather, with the month receiving 100mm of rain. June sees the beginning of the strong monsoon, when a massive 800mm - 900mm of rain falls during the next two months, there is only 4 hours of sun each day, and temperatures drop to 29C. This begins to lessen in August, with 500mm of rainfall, decreasing to 200mm in September. The sun starts to shine for longer in October - up to 8 hours - and by November the season is ready to begin again.
