Holidays in Vale de Parra
Vale de Parra, just 30 minutes from Faro airport, is the rural area between Cerro d’Aguia and the coastline – an unspoilt valley within easy reach of the stunning beaches of the Algarve. An area of peaceful farmland, Vale de Parra (‘Valley of the Grapevines’), is rich is both vineyards and citrus trees, and home to many private villas, which command fantastic views of the surrounding countryside.
Holidays in Vale de Parra – A great choice of wonderful sandy beaches
Situated just 4km west of Albufeira and 4km east of Armacao de Pera, visitors to Vale de Parra have numerous wonderful sandy beaches to choose from, all within just a few minutes drive. The most well-known is Gale, a long sandy beach, stretching for 5km along the coast, and offering plenty of watersports and great beach bars along its’ length. Smaller cove beaches include Sao Rafael, one of the most beautiful beaches in the area, with its’ amazing arched rocks free-standing on the sands, and Castelo, home to some odd-shaped cliffs, grottoes and blowholes, and a favourite for boast trips. All the beaches close to Vale de Parra are family-friendly, with areas of shade, gently shelving sands and rocks for scrambling over, and they tend to be less busy than the beaches of Albufeira. For hikers, the area around Vale de Parra offers some interesting cliff walks along the headland connecting the beaches.
Holidays in Vale de Parra – Ideally placed to enjoy the nearby attractions
The peaceful rural area of Vale de Parra offers some local village restaurants, and convenient supermarkets, however a car is recommended to enjoy all that the area has to offer. Albufeira, with its’ Old Town is just 4km away, and the village of Guia, renowned for its’ wealth of fabulous restaurants serving up the local speciality, Chicken Piri-Piri, is located just a few kilometers inland. The famous golf course, Salgados, is 10 minutes from Vale de Parra, and tennis, horse-riding and cycling can all be enjoyed whilst staying here. Family attractions close by include Zoomarine, and the waterparks Aqualand and Splash and Slide.
