Tuscany Region Weather
Tuscany Weather - Hot summers for lazy holidays
To a certain extent it is difficult to generalise about the weather in Tuscany as the region encompasses a wide variety of landscapes and a stretch of coastline. Wherever you are in Tuscany you can be sure that July and August will be hot. This may not suit a busy sightseeing holiday but might be ideal for a lazy villa holiday beside the pool. Summer weather in Tuscany is ideal for romantic, al fresco romantic dining. If you don’t cope well with the heat and you are planning a walking or cycling holiday in Tuscany, you really should avoid the peak summer. Remember most Tuscan villages are perched on a hilltop! Peak summer weather can be tryingly humid for walking city streets; the main sights can feel overly touristy and big cities empty of residents in August. Having said that, Tuscany weather often cools a little in mid August with the first rainfall. If your Tuscany holiday centres on a relaxing villa, camping or Tuscany beach resorts, the summer heat may not be a problem!

If you have the luxury of avoiding the school summer holidays, we recommend spring and autumn. Tuscany weather in early spring will see some rain but will also enjoy an explosion of wild flowers and feel-good optimism. March, April and May can experience temperatures around 20º and 6 hours of sunshine. Rainfall decreases from June. Late September and October can be idyllic: long, bright, sunny days, average temperatures still over 20º, and a fraction of the tourists. This is a beautiful, colourful, atmospheric time to tour the Tuscan countryside.
