Trapezaki Weather

The quiet resort of Trapezaki lies on the south coast of Kefalonia, just 17km from the capital, Argostoli. Thanks to its laid-back appeal and Mediterranean-like climate, Trapezaki is an ideal destination for beach-lovers looking for a peaceful base and hot sunny weather in the south of the island. 

 

Spring in Trapezaki sees perfect conditions for exploring the surrounding fertile countryside on scenic walks, hikes, and bike rides, thanks to warm pleasant weather and average temperatures of 17C in April and 22C in May. Days are fairly dry in Trapezaki during the spring, with between 33mm - 58mm of monthly rain falling. June begins to heat up, with average daytime highs of 26C and as much as 11 hours of daily sunshine, and less rain falling - as little as 16mm during the month. Visitors begin to hit the beach, and continue to do so during the summer season, especially in July and August when the temperature soars to 29C and the resort basks in 13 hours of daily sunshine. The warm waters of the Ionian Sea reach 24C - 26C at this time, and the level of humidity rises during these peak season months.   

Hot weather continues into September, when the average daytime temperature remains at 26C, and there is still an abundance of sunshine - around 9 hours each day. The rainfall increases slightly to 43mm during the month, but it is not until October that Trapezaki sees a dramatic rise in wet weather, when the resort receives 133mm of rain. November and December continue to be rainy and see 160mm - 180mm each month, with this wet weather helping to keep the island green. During the winter, the weather is mild, seeing temperatures of 12C in the coolest months of January and February.
