Tossa de Mar holidays
Tossa de Mar, on the Costa Brava, is a typical Catalan town, and was one of the first along this stretch of coast to welcome tourists. Picturesque and charming, Tossa de Mar is one of the best preserved fortified towns in Spain, with a thriving old quarter dating back to the 12th century, and attracts families and couples with its’ authentic village atmosphere,  award-winning beaches, and genuine Catalan charm.

Holidays in Tossa de Mar – Stroll round the medieval old town
Tossa de Mar boasts a wonderful 17km stretch of coast, full of sand and shingle beaches and sheltered coves. There are two Blue Flag beaches in Tossa de Mar, Platja Gran, the main beach positioned in a horseshoe-shaped bay, with plenty of bars and cafes and watersports to enjoy, and Mar Menunda, with crystal-clear waters perfect for scuba-diving or snorkelling. Boat trips are a popular way to see the coast of the Costa Brava, and a wide selection of pleasure cruisers and fishing trips depart from Platja Gran. The old quarter of Tossa de Mar, Villa Verla, is delightful, and has been listed as a Spanish National Historical Monument, with its’ maze of narrow cobbled streets and 14th century castle protected behind the medieval walls, and the ancient defence towers on the headland dominating the town. There are plenty of authentic tapas bars and restaurants in the old town, and throughout Tossa de Mar both international food and Catalan specialities can be found, with a long row of restaurants along the seafront. Nightlife in Tossa de Mar is fairly laid-back and relaxed, but during the summer months the bars stay open late and there are a few dance clubs open until the early hours. For more hectic nightlife, Lloret de Mar is just a short taxi ride away.

Tossa de Mar holidays – Enjoy the beaches and beautiful countryside of the Costa Brava
The attractive medieval town of Tossa de Mar is a great choice for families and couples, with the historic old town still retaining a charming atmosphere. Diving, sailing and the usual watersports are all available down on the front, and the beautiful countryside surrounding Tossa de Mar, including the mountains and the Massif de Cadiretes wildlife reserve, is perfect for scenic hikes and bike-rides. Andorra, with its’ duty-free shopping, is just an hours’ drive from Tossa de Mar, and buses regularly run to Barcelona for shopping and sightseeing.
