Tizzano Things To Do
Beaches
Most visitors to Tizzano tend to stay close to the sandy beach in the wide sweeping bay, which, thanks to its remote location accessible via only one road, remains fairly undiscovered and quiet throughout the season. Other beaches to explore in the southwest include Plage du Phare at Propriano, Portigliolo, Campomoro and Cappiciolo.
Sports
Private boats are available for hire, and scuba-diving is offered in Tizzano, with enthusiasts able to explore the rocky coves that dot the shoreline. Hotels and villas in Tizzano offer facilities such as swimming pools and tennis courts.
Walking & Hiking
Known as a major destination for walking, Corsica boasts some incredible trails, especially throughout its mountainous interior, full of dramatic gorges, deep forests and lush vineyards, with Tizzano offering plenty of itineraries and organised walks for nature lovers to explore.
Mountain Biking
The region is a haven for cyclists, who have a huge amount of terrain to cover in southwest Corsica, from the marquis-covered hills, to deserted coastal roads and steep rocky mountains inland - all accompanied by spectacular views.
Horse Riding
Local stables around Tizzano offer rides for all levels from beginner to expert, which follow wild coastal trails, hidden country paths and tiny local villages, and even take experienced riders on tours of the menhirs.
Ancient Sites
The southwest is steeped in ancient history, with one of the island's major attractions, the prehistoric site at Palaghju, located nearby. The site dates back almost 4,000 years and is the largest collection of menhirs and megaliths in the Mediterranean.
Waterfront Restaurants
The highlight of the day for many, evening meals at the quaint harbour side restaurants feature delicious Corsican fare and are sure to include the resort's catch of the day. Ideal for leisurely meals, these local spots provide the perfect place to sit and relax, and marvel at the great views overlooking the bay.
Day Trips
The historic town of Sartene is just a short drive, and boasts a charming medieval centre, cobbled streets, and traditional produce market, and is the place to sample some of the regions' best wines. Propriano offers a colourful day out, with its lively harbour and great places to eat, with other towns to visit including Porto Vecchio, Bonifacio and Ajaccio.
