Thulhagiri Island lies in the centre of the North Male Atoll, just 13km from the capital, Male, and boasts an idyllic tropical climate with hot sunny weather all-year round. Located in the Indian Ocean, the island is affected by the two monsoon systems that dominate the region and experiences both a dry and wet season each year. The best time for a Thulhagiri Island holiday is from November to April.

The weather in November is dry and sunny, thanks to the arrival of the northeastern monsoon, and generally remains that way until April. Temperatures remain constant throughout the year, hovering around 30C, and there is always a minimum of 7 hours of sunshine every day. Winters see the lowest levels of humidity on Thulhagiri Island, and the driest weather - ideal for a lazy beach holiday. January to March sees the least amount of rain, around 90mm each, with February being the driest month, receiving just 68mm of rain. Night-time temperatures remain around 25C - 26C, meaning perfect weather for al-fresco evening meals and moonlit walks on the beach. Sea temperatures remain around 28C during the winter period, ideal for swimming, water sports and boat trips.

April experiences the hottest temperatures of the year, reaching 32C, thanks to the onset of the southwest monsoon. There is a rise in humidity, which continues into July, and at least 8 hours of sun each day. Conditions start to change during this time, as the region sees more rainfall in May, with up to 211mm falling. Heavy rainfall continues throughout the season, with the island seeing a monthly average of 196mm, and a marked increase in winds across the region.
