Thomson holidays have signed an exclusive deal with online travel review site TripAdvisor that will include hotel and destination reviews on the Thomson Holidays website. Thomson holidays parent company TUI Travel, have stated that they are aiming for full integration of TripAdvisor reviews by September 2007.
Thomson holidays have become increasingly focused on the online market, now selling up to 60% of its holidays online. TUI Director of New Media, Graham Donoghue stated that the Thomson is continuing to divert its attention away from traditional package holidays in favour of “DIY” holidays, a move which reflects consumer’s preferences in recent months.
The Thomson and TripAdvisor link-up marks the first relationship between TripAdvisor and a travel supplier. TripAdvisor, part of Expedia, recently announced that user reviews would be uploaded onto the Expedia's website. The Thomson holidays deal is announced as TripAdvisor launched a social networking traveller Network in the style of Facebook which allows TripAdvisor members to share holiday and travel experiences and tips with friends and family who are also members.
