Internet analyst Hitwise has released details of the top 50 online retailers in the UK, which features Eleven travel sites.
Despite retaining its position as the highest ranked travel site, easyJet has conceded a couple of places, moving from eight to tenth. Thomson Holidays is ranked just behind easyJet, moving up from 13th to 11th – being one of the few travel sites featured to actually improve its ranking over the past twelve months. Other companies that experienced slight declines since last year include Expedia (12th), Ryanair (14th), Lastminute.com (17th), Thomas Cook (25th), British Airways (19th) and First Choice (29th).
One of the newest travel brands to enter the top 50 were TravelRepublic, who debut at 48th, whilst notable of inclusions are Thomsonfly (50th) and Travelodge (40th). Many travel brands have fallen out of the Hitwise list since last year, noticeably, MyTravel, bmibaby, XL.com, Flybe.com, Jet2.com, InterContinental Hotels, Monarch Airlines and Opodo. The highest ranked online retail brand was Amazon.com, which has retained its position from 2007.
