Tenerife Holidays

Tenerife Holidays
Tenerife, ‘the island of eternal spring’, is the largest of the seven Canary Islands and a hugely popular year-round destination for British travellers. With a wonderful annual climate averaging out at 20 degrees, considered by many to be the best in the world, and a wide range of well-equipped resorts. Tenerife caters to the young and the old, and attracts both families and groups wanting fun in the sun. The island offers an extremely diverse range of landscapes – the north is full of verdant subtropical vegetation, forests and banana plantations with a dramatic rugged coastline, whilst the south is more arid and desert-like, filled with a lunar landscape and a mix of black and white beaches. In central Tenerife, the island boasts the highest point in all of Spain – the majestic Mount Teide volcano, measuring 3,718m, and visible from all over the island.

Holiday In Tenerife – A wide range of varying resorts
Tenerife offers a good mix of resorts to suit all types of holidaymakers, with over two-thirds of all visitors choosing to stay in the more commercial south, enjoying the man-made beaches, great facilities and lively nightlife. Playa de las Americas is the largest resort on the island, and caters mainly to the 18-30’s crowd, who relax on the golden beach (with its’ sand imported from the Sahara desert) by day and party hard at the all-night clubs and bars by night. Los Cristianos, originally a fishing village next door, offers a slightly quieter, more traditional base, whilst the purpose-built Costa Adeje and Playa Paraisa are modern suburbs of their boisterous neighbour. Further north, Puerto de la Cruz is the oldest resort on Tenerife, and offers a quaint town centre with a charming old quarter, and some fabulous attractions including a Blue Flag beach, whilst Los Gigantes, home to the unique and dramatic cliffs emerging from the Atlantic, is known for the best weather on the island.

Tenerife Holidays – Plenty for everyone to see and do
The resorts of Tenerife really do offer something for everyone, whether its scenic hiking up a volcano or in a deep ravine, sport-fishing for marlin or bungee-jumping. All manner of water-sports can be found here. Diving in Tenerife is a major attraction, whilst on dry land visitors can enjoy golf, tennis, go-karting, bowling and balloon rides. Plenty of attractions will keep the children happy, including an AquaPark, zoo, adventure park, parrot farm and massive lido, whilst whale and dolphin spotting boat-trips are a popular excursion for everyone. The resorts of Tenerife vary dramatically in atmosphere, from noisy and boisterous to sedate and authentic, and whilst typically English food, karaoke and excessive beer may be the norm in some resorts, traditional Spanish tapas and locally-made wine can be found in the typical Canarian bars throughout the smaller less-developed parts of Tenerife.
