Our review of Taroudant...
The market town of Taroudant offers a truly traditional side of Morocco, just an hours drive inland from Agadir. With a dramatic backdrop of the Atlas Mountains and surrounded by endless olive and orange groves, the town is ideal for a relaxing getaway with an enchanting atmosphere, and offers accommodation ranging from rustic self-catering to luxury hotels. Boasting ancient city walls encircling a fascinating array of elegant architecture and a compact and colourful town centre, Taroudant is home to some of the best shopping around, with its shops, stalls and souks selling a huge range of well-priced local goods, such as carpets, pottery and leather. With a distinct African influence, Taroudant is ideal for those seeking a taste of the exotic, with a peaceful atmosphere, and a friendly welcoming culture.

"Taroudant was exactly what we wanted for our holiday - a chance to discover the Moroccan culture in a quiet town with plenty of history but without the crowds (and tourists). It has to be seen to be believed, as it is quite beautiful, and the Kasbah is amazing. If you want to see the real Morocco, go to Taroudant!"

"I'd really recommend Taroudant as an alternative to the usual tourist hotspots like Marrakesh and Agadir. With a unique character, it is laid-back and traditional. Do tour the souks for bargains, experiment with the food - it is wonderful! and visit a real Berber village if you get a chance."
