Holidays in Tamariu - The Costa Brava at its best
Tamariu breaks are based in one of the prettiest Costa Brava beach resorts; a small peaceful relaxing village in a picturesque bay in the middle of the Costa Brava, between Llafranc and Playa de Pals, 32 miles east of Gerona airport. Tamariu enjoys one of the most unspoilt stretches of the Costa Brava, with scenic wooded hills, steep cliffs, tiny coves and a sparkling blue sea. This is a charming resort that has retained a good deal of Mediterranean village character, a world away from the scene at the larger more frenetic Costa Brava resorts. Holidays here are not complete without a visit to the neighbouring resort of Llafranc, another renowned beauty spot with plenty more tempting cafes and restaurants. Outstanding coastal paths are a feature of breaks in Tamariu and are a fine way of exploring this gorgeous scenic stretch of the Costa Brava.

Tamariu Holidays - Charming wooded bay provides a picturesque setting

Tamariu beach is very well sheltered and has fine golden sand and incredibly clear water ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Pretty local beaches include Aigua Xelida, Aigua Dolca, L’Iris beach, Fonda beach and Cala Pedrosa. Renting a small boat is a favourite pastime and is an ideal way of exploring delightful beaches like Fornells, Sa Tuna, Sa Reira and Aigua Blava. Tamariu holidays offer splendid opportunities for a wide range of watersports including diving, sailing and waterskiing. Activities in the area could also include cycling, golf, horse riding and waterparks for the children. The nightlife is relaxed and unhurried. There are romantic open air waterfront cafes and bars, particularly around the pretty beach promenade and harbour. Spend your days sampling a selection of restaurants with excellent seafood, fish and Catalan cuisine on the menu. You will find a livelier scene at the larger resort of Calella de Palafrugell to the south.

Tamariu Holidays – A delightful region to explore

Tamariu is well-placed for exploring a varied picturesque region. Day trip itineraries could include a trip to the charming old hilltop Catalan town of Begur, the old market town of La Bisbal famous for its ceramics, the pretty medieval towns of Pals and Peratallada, the ancient remains at Empuries, the Salvador Dali Museum in Figueres, the monastery at Montserrat and the lovely old centre of Gerona. Other worthwhile excursions include the old harbour town of Saint Feliu with its medieval monastery and the botanical gardens at Cap Roig. Buses run to Palafrugell and onwards to Gerona and Barcelona.
