Sun Island Resort and Spa enjoys an idyllic location in the South Ari Atoll in the Maldives archipelago, in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The resort experiences a hot tropical climate with year-round high temperatures, with the tourist season determined by the timing of the two monsoons that affect the island chain. The best time to visit Sun Island resort and Spa is during the dry northeast monsoon, which blows through from November to March.
 
Sun Island Resort and Spa Winter - Winters see the best conditions for a beach holiday
The cold British winter is the ideal time for a Sun Island resort and Spa holiday, when conditions are optimum for a relaxing beach getaway. At the beginning of the season in November and December, the daytime highs reach 30C and the sun shines for 7 hours each day, although there is still residual rainfall of around 190mm each month. The best conditions occur from January to March, when the weather is at its driest, with just 60mm - 90mm of rain falling each month, and there is 9 hours of glorious sunshine to accompany the daytime highs of 31C. At this time the waters of the Indian Ocean are very calm and reach 25C - ideal not only for swimming, but for the many water sports and boat trips available. The resort sees an increase in both daytime temperatures and humidity in April, as the region prepares for the rainy season. May sees a decrease in humidity and the onset of the rain, with 211mm falling during the month, and the following months seeing steady rainfall until September.
 
Weather in Sun Island Resort and Spa - May to September brings the rainy season
From May to September, the resort is affected by the southwest monsoon, which brings much wetter weather of around 200mm each month, and rougher seas. The daytime temperature remains at 30C until the end of the year, and there is still at least 7 hours of sunshine each month. September and October brings the wettest weather of the year, with the resort receiving 213mm - 229mm, and marking the end of the rainy season.
