Sun City Things To Do
Golf
Sun City is renowned for golf, complete with the mega-posh Gary Player Country Club, venue of the annual Million Dollar Golf Challenge. Plus there’s a golf course at Lost City including a ‘crocodile pit’ at the thirteenth hole, but not real crocs, surely? We assume ‘crocodile pit’ is the golfers’ nickname for a really challenging bit of rough!
Casinos
Sun City is a purpose built holiday complex about two hours from Johannesburg by car. It is home to the world’s second largest casino outside the USA, a monster of bling, sparkle, bright lights and glitz, probably is why it is often called Sin City!
Lost City Complex
Sun City’s amazing Lost City complex has a jungle all of its own – weird but fantastic – as well as The Valley of the Waves, an artificial beach, an enormous swimming area, cleverly created waterfalls and gurgling streams. This Fantastic complex is twelve miles round, packed with luxurious hotels, massive entertainment centres, places to eat and drink, gambling, discos, bars and night clubs.
Big Game Safaris and Drives
The famous Pilanesburg Safari Park of South Africa is only nine miles from Sun City and, unlike much of the region, it is free of Malaria. Head for the park and experience 300 or so kinds of birds, giraffes, hyenas, elephants, tigers and lions. Choose an Elephant Back Safari. Book a Game Drive. Or enjoy night and daytime safaris and early evening bush barbeques.
Hot Air Balloon Safaris
Be prepared to get up early to catch a balloon safari. It’s worth it for the breathtaking views as the sun rises over the African plains. Hot Air balloon Safaris are a popular way to watch wildlife, feel the breeze and experience the bush waking up.
Sports and Activities
Sun City resort, being purpose built, caters for an exciting array of weird and wonderful sports and activities. Their Outdoor Adventure Centre operates from the Letsatsing Game Park and offers the chance to try your hand at archery. Exercise your bones with a bit of quad biking. Learn African drumming. Shoot clay pigeons. Or hire a light aircraft and fly high above the resort and beyond.
