St Kitts Weather
Enjoying a tropical Caribbean climate, St Kitts is the perfect destination for an idyllic beach holiday. The island experiences relatively high year round temperatures and a steady ocean breeze helps cool the air and keeps humidity low. The wet season tends to arrive between May and October when temperatures are at their peak and accounts for the majority of St Kitts annual rainfall of 54 inches. This is generally hurricane season in the Caribbean although the chances of getting caught in a serious storm are low as they only occur every few years. Most visitors come to St Kitts during the European winter, from November through to April and the Christmas period is especially popular.
Weather in St Kitts
Naturally, a St Kitts holiday is all about sun and sand and the weather is just perfect for a memorable beach holiday. With average year round temperatures of 26 degrees and sea temperatures averaging a balmy 27 degrees it is hardly surprising that the ocean provides the focus for a St Kitts holiday. In addition, St Kitts enjoys an average 8.5 hours of sunshine a day. In high season temperatures can reach the high 30s but with the abundance of stunning beaches and activities such as snorkelling and windsurfing there are ample opportunities to cool off and the sea breezes ensure the heat does not become uncomfortable.
St Kitts Weather
Although a popular high season destination, St Kitts also has great appeal in low season when temperatures are a few degrees warmer. For one thing, visiting the island in low season ensures that beaches are quieter and prices are often more attractive. Keen divers and sailors benefit from the fact that the waters are clearer and calmer in May, June and July. This is also when the island is at its greenest and the lush interior is perfect for hiking and scaling peaks. Low season is when the locals tend to party. In May, St Kitts holds an annual Musical Festival, and in June the island holds the St Kitts and Nevis Regatta - a popular sailboat race.
