things to do in St Philip
Crane Beach
The pink sand and cliffs of Crane Beach are particularly famous. Crane Beach frequently appears in lists of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Wonderfully warm turquoise water provides idyllic conditions for snorkelling and swimming. Soft sand and a wonderfully laid-back atmosphere make for relaxed sunbathing. The cliff top Crane Resort & Residences has been a landmark hotel in Barbados since opening in 1867. Caribbean beach aficionados will also enjoy superb St Philip holiday beaches like Bottom Bay and Long Bay. Miami Beach is popular with the locals at weekends and is a great place for beach snacks and sea shells.

St Philip Excursions
Local St Philip excursions usually feature atmospheric plantation houses and nature attractions. The amazing Harrison’s Cave features crystal-blue pools and waterfalls in large floodlit chambers. Travel to the south tip of Barbados to see the South Point Lighthouse. The area around Christ Church has a nice collection of churches. Excursions from St Philip to the Barbados highlands offer cooler temperatures and beautiful views. For a wide choice of restaurants and a taste of a lively Barbados beach resort it is worth heading into the enjoyable resort of St Lawrence Gap. The best St Philip hotels usually offer shopping trips to Bridgetown and St Lawrence.

The Oistins Fish Fry
The hugely entertaining Barbadian fishing community of Oistins has become something of a Barbados holiday institution thanks to its legendary Friday and Saturday night Fish Fry. Cold beer and live music accompany grilled, barbecued and fried fish served with sweet potato and macaroni pie. Should you miss the fish fry you will still be able to observe local fishermen and admire the amazing choice of fish and seafood in Oistins fish market. St Philip holidays at Easter will coincide with the Oistins Fish Festival.

Sport & Adventure
A holiday in St Philip could include water sports like diving, sailing, surfing, kite surfing and wind surfing. There is plenty of excitement for snorkellers too.  Deep sea fishing excursions set off in search of barracuda, wahoo, dorado, tuna and sailfish. Catamaran excursions and romantic sunset cruises are especially popular. Horse riding lessons and tours feature secluded beaches, sugar plantations and the lush highlands. Several hotels offer Barbados golf holiday deals.

Hire a Car
The St Philip holiday region is a relatively undeveloped corner of Barbados and the village-style resort hotels in St Philip are relatively isolated in comparison to the busy west coast. Hiring a car enables you to explore a peaceful agricultural region and some of the finest beaches on the island.
