Skala – the liveliest of the Kefalonia beach resorts
Skala is one of the busiest and largest resorts on Kefalonia. Skala holidays are based in a growing resort between rocky hills on the south-east coast of the island, 8 miles from Poros, 30 miles south-east of Argostoli and 20 miles from the airport. The main attraction of Skala holidays is the immensely long sand and shingle beach that stretches for around 3 miles. Skala holidays are popular with couples and families looking for a great beach and plenty of bars and tavernas. Skala is probably the liveliest of the Kefalonia beach resorts but only a few bars are open until late. There is an open-air disco out of town. Most Skala holiday entertainment, shops and restaurants are found in and around the narrow streets running off the main road.

Holidays in Skala have a fantastically long beach and can also enjoy splendid wide sandy beaches and good safe swimming at Kaminia beach and the warm waters at Loutriki beach. The famous turtle beach at Potamakia is a protected area and therefore one of the calmest and quietest stretches of beach around Skala. With a little effort or a hired boat there are secluded small coves to be found around the headland. Holidays in Skala enjoy good watersports facilities. A good coast walk leads to Poros.
Holidays in Skala – interesting traditional villages inland
Take time during a Skala holiday to enjoy the views of the coast from the old village ruins up on the hill and the Roman villa with well-preserved mosaics. Visit the picturesque village of Ratzakli. Inland villages like Alimatas and Koutrokoy are worth a visit for a taste of traditional village life and typically beautiful Kefalonia countryside.
