Selimiye Holidays

Located in the Mugla Province on the south-western coast of the Mediterranean, Selimiye is a charming fishing village and a popular stop-off point for those on yachts travelling between Marmaris and Bodrum. The most popular restaurants are those with tables that overlook the bay; great for relaxing meals as the sun sets over the ocean. There is plenty to do in Selimiye and the surrounding area. The ruins of three castles can be found in the near vicinity for those interested in the history and culture of the region, as well as the remains of the ancient city Hydas. Boat trips run daily to small sandy coves and secluded islands dotted around the bay, including excursions to Kamelya Island on which an old monastery is built. The lush Mediterranean countryside nearby makes a particularly pleasant area for those after walking trips, especially in March or April when the weather is milder and hiking is more comfortable.

 

A cheap holiday in Selimiye will feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Time seems to move at a slower pace here, and you’ll soon find yourself tuned to the relaxed rhythm of the village. Particularly suitable for those who like quiet and peace, young adults in groups and those on family getaways may find the resort a little too quiet for their tastes. If this is the case, lively Marmaris is just 40 minute’s drive away; for clubbing and a livelier, bustling resort (albeit somewhat commercial compared to the authentic Turkish feel of Selimiye), Marmaris is the more suitable option.
