Weather in Sardinia
The weather in Sardinia is hot and dry in summer, spring and autumn are particularly pleasant and winters are mild and humid with the occasional hot day. The island is surrounded by warm Mediterranean sea and its 1200 miles of coastline sees plenty of sun. Sardinia enjoys 7 hours of sunshine each day in April, rising to 11 hours in July. It is the perfect destination for a family beach holiday or a water sports holiday in the spring, summer and early autumn when visitors can enjoy the clear sea and explore the delightful coves.

Sardinia weather – Warm, clear sea, ideal for water sports
The Sardinian sea not only looks beautiful but it stays warm all year. Even in the coldest months, January to March, the sea temperature does not fall below 13 °C. From June to September it’s 21-23 °C and in July and August it’s up 24 °C. The other factor that helps make Sardinia so popular with water sports enthusiasts is the sea breeze. Winds such as the Scirocco, the Minstral and the Levant vary from coast to coast and have made Sardinia a top destination for surfers, windsurfers and sailors.

Weather in Sardinia – Hot summers, mild winters, warm springs and autumns
During July and August the average high temperature is 30°C and it can be humid, which is not too much of a problem if you’re enjoying water sports, but for golfers, hikers and cyclists the spring, late summer or early autumn is probably a better time to visit. In April the average minimum temperature is 11°C and the maximum 19°C. This rises to 18°C and 27°C by June. In winter the Sardinian weather can be unpredictable and this is when most of the rain falls, although it does tend to be much heavier in the mountains rather than the coastal areas. However, winters are short and soon give way to warm, sunny springs. Out of season the island is quiet and it can be a pleasant time to visit the island’s historic towns.
