Santo Tomas, situated on the south coast of Menorca, is a popular resort with both British and Spanish holidaymakers, offering a relaxed pace of life and a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. Ideal for couples and families, the main draw of Santo Tomas is its’ lovely sandy beach, and the resort is set against pine-filled woods and attractive countryside. Santa Tomas is within walking distance of the fantastic beach at neighbouring San Bou, and is ideally located between the major centres of Mahon and Cuitadella.

The beach at Santo Tomas is fairly narrow, but long, and backed with sand dunes. Like most beaches on the island, the sand is fine and white, and shelves gently into the warm sea, providing excellent swimming conditions. Watersports are available in Santo Tomas, and there is a beach bar for those much-needed refreshments. The accommodation is a good mix of hotels, villas and apartments, with Santo Tomas is home to 3 supermarkets and numerous shops. Behind the beach of Santo Tomas runs a pedestrian tree-lined promenade, lined with some friendly bars and restaurants, with much of the entertainment being hotel-based, especially at the beach-side Victoria Playa Hotel. The wonderful sandy beach at San Bou is a 45 minute scenic walk over the cliffs, past the infamous local nudist beach.

Santo Tomas offers lots of activities for families away from the beach, including kids’ clubs, childrens’ play areas, tennis, shooting and mini-golf. The resort also has a popular equestrian centre which offers horse-back riding. Two nearby local markets are worth a visit, on Wednesday at Migjorn Gran, and on Sunday at Mercadal. Both Mahon and Cuitadella are easy day trips from Santo Tomas, each with a picturesque harbour, great Spanish restaurants and fantastic shopping opportunities.
