Santiago is in south eastern Cuba and has become known as the country’s second city. It is an attractive holiday destination with holiday makers because Santiago has a friendly atmosphere quite unlike the atmosphere of the humid capital. The main events for the tourists are the music and festivals as well as a carnival in July. The natural surroundings also attract holiday makers with many flocking to see the unspoilt coast. For young holiday makers there are a good selection of clubs and dance venues that offer something different every night. Santiago - Pay a visit to the Sierra Maestra Mountains For visitors who like fine cuisine you will be spoilt for choice. Santiago is heavily influenced by African, Haitian, Spanish and French which is transferred to the cuisine to provide some magical dishes to give you some special holiday memories. A lot of the city can be explored by foot which is why such a diverse mix of people chose to come on holiday to Santiago. If you want to do some more adventurous exploring it is recommended that you pay a visit to the Sierra Maestra Mountains or take a boat trip to one of the nearby Islands.
