Holidays in Sannat
Sannat, the most southerly village on the island of Gozo, is a calm and tranquil retreat, close to the capital city, and the small bays and coves of the area. Its’ location means that Sannat has some stunning views over neighbouring Malta and Comino, and inland across the beautiful countryside. Sannat was once the centre for the local lace making industry, and throughout the village the craft is still in existence.

Holidays in Sannat – A quiet and traditional village with stunning views
The little village of Sannat is quaint and traditional, and the stone farmhouses of the area offer a quiet and charming place to stay. The 18th century parish church of St. Margaret is the focal point of the village, and many of the houses still have the ornate hand-carved stone balconies so typical of the island. Beyond the village of Sannat are the majestic cliffs of Ta Cenc, the highest point on Gozo, affording spectacular views and great for coastal walks. The cliffs at Ta Cenc are also home to some interesting archaeological sites, including the remains of a temple and some standing stones. Just a short walk from the village of Sannat is the narrow inlet of Mgarr ix-Xini Bay, one of the prettiest coves on Gozo and an excellent spot for diving, and the popular resort of Xlendi Bay is 10 minutes away.
Holidays in Sannat – Famed for its’ local lace making
Sannat is home to a handful of local restaurants and bars, with more choice found in the capital city, Victoria, just a couple of kilometers away. The area is perfect for scenic walks and bike-rides, and the pace of life in the village is relaxed and leisurely. Local townswomen can still be seen lace making in the village, and Sannat is a great place to pick up gifts and souvenirs such as handmade tablecloths, handkerchiefs and shawls.
