Holidays in San Agustin San Agustin, located on the southeast coast of Gran Canaria, is the oldest resort in the area and a great choice for those looking for a calm and peaceful destination. Sitting just a little further north from Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas, San Agustin is much smaller than its’ neighbours, and has managed to retain its’ traditional charm, whilst offering a comfortable base for a relaxing holiday.
Holidays in San Agustin – Dark volcanic sandy beach San Agustin shares the 8km stretch of coastline with larger resorts Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas; however the small beach in the resort has the characteristic dark volcanic sand, typically found on Gran Canaria. The sand shelves gently into the sea, and the beach provides excellent conditions for swimming, snorkelling and diving. Shops, bars and restaurants line the beachfront, and in general the beach at San Agustin tends to be much less crowded than the beaches further south, despite being a particular favourite with locals.
Holidays in San Agustin – Close to many attractions San Agustin is an ideal location for those needing a relaxing break, but with plenty of day trips and excursions available to them. The sand dunes of Maspalomas are a must-see, just behind the long stretch of beach, and neighbouring Playa del Ingles offers great duty free shopping. Boat trips depart from the resorts along the coast, and big game fishing tips are available on the island. The largest golf course in Gran Canaria is just along the coast at Maspalomas, and many hotels in San Agustin have tennis courts. There are plenty of places to take the children around the San Agustin area, including two water parks, a funfair and amusement arcade, and various theme parks – Sioux City, with a Wild West theme and Mundo Aborigen, with traditional Aboriginal shows and a museum.
