Samos Weather & Climate
With its warm Mediterranean climate, Samos enjoys hot dry days during the summer season, and boasts one of the longest periods of sunshine in Greece. A mountainous island in the eastern Aegean, Samos experiences mild winters with lots of rainfall, which helps to keep the landscape lush and green.

Weather in Samos - Enjoying a long and sunny holiday season
Temperatures in the spring begin to rise during April, seeing an average of 16C and reaching a pleasant 20C in May. This is perhaps the best time to visit Samos, when the flowers are in bloom and there are fewer crowds, but plenty of sunny warm days. During June, the temperature rises to 25C with an average of 26C and 27C in July and August. Rainfall in summer is very rare, with the sun shining for approximately 11 hours a day, and the high temperatures being cooled by the strong 'meltemi' winds that blow from the north. These winds blow throughout the year on Samos, being at their strongest during the height of summer.

Samos Weather - Wet winters with mild temperatures
The temperature variations are not dramatic throughout the seasons on Samos, with the autumn months dropping to around 20C, and winter seeing lows of 11C. These mild winters tend to be wet, however, with Samos receiving more rain than any of the neighbouring Aegean islands. The south winds that blow through the island bring the heavy rainfall, with over half of the total rain falling during the winter, and December and January being the wettest months. Southern Samos tends to be drier than the northern part, due to the extensive northern winds that blow through the island.
