Salina Weather
Weather in Salina – Mediterranean weather all round
Salina is in the north of Malta in a sheltered bay which enjoys some of the best weather in the Med. Further south than parts of North Africa, Salina is an ideal destination for anyone looking for summer sun or to escape cold winters – January average temperatures reach 15°C. July and August can be humid, but the north of the island has plenty of places to swim, including most of the island’s sandy beaches, and the sea is extremely inviting.
Salina Weather – Hot and dry in summer, warm in spring and autumn
Summers in Salina are extremely hot and sunny – anyone visiting in high summer should take care not to get burnt. You can expect 12 hours of sun each day in July and very little rain, while temperatures in August often reach well into the 30s. Although this suits sun worshippers, many visitors enjoy Salina in spring or autumn. The north of the island may be rocky but it is surprisingly fertile and spring is perfect for sightseeing. Average temperatures reach 19°C in April and 23° in May and there’s between eight and ten hours of sunshine each day. Autumn is also extremely pleasant, and although there’s a chance of a little rain, there will be lots of sun and the sea temperature is still 23°C in October.
Weather in Salina – Lots of sun all year
Winters are wet in Salina but mild with plenty of sunshine between showers – there’s an average of five days of sunshine each day in January – making this a good time to explore without the crowds. Winter’s also a good for windsurfers as there’s more wind from December to May and even in January the average sea temperature doesn’t drop below 16°C. There are no prevailing trade winds but sea breezes can help visitors feel more comfortable in the summer humidity, while occasional south winds can bring unusually hot air from Africa in spring and autumn. Generally, however, the forecast for Salina is sun, sun and more sun.
