Ronda Weather

Although Ronda is in the Costa del Sol, because of its inland location and high altitude (between 600m and 700m above sea level) the weather is often cooler that then nearby coastal resorts. Despite this however, there are no extreme weather conditions throughout the seasons and the summers are still warm and sunny. Situated high on a plateau in the mountains, the region enjoys cool clear weather in spring with highest temperatures rising to a sultry maximum 30C in July and August.

 

High summer in Ronda sees glorious weather conditions, perfect for walking, hiking and climbing in this spectacular mountain region. Sunshine hours are long in the summer, reaching up to an impressive 11 or 12 in June, July and August. Explore this historic and picturesque town in the summer and enjoy the long, balmy evenings sitting outside and enjoying some of the region's fine food and wine. Be sure to bring a high factor sun cream and light clothing as the cool breeze coming down from the high mountains can mask the harmful effects of the sun in the hotter months.

 

Winters in Ronda are frosty and fresh, and occasional snow on the mountain tops is not unheard of. Spring weather brings a profusion of wild flowers that are exclusive to the nearby mountains and hillsides, so this is a perfect time to go on a holiday in Ronda to explore the national parks. The beautiful light and clear air makes April the best month for photography in Ronda, as the region experiences hazier weather as the temperatures rise. As you might expect for southern Spain, in summer you can be sure of long hours of bright sunshine and sitting outside in the evenings, but as autumn draws nearer the nights get cooler.
