The world-famous River Kwai is located in the Kanchanaburi province in western Thailand, just 2 hours from the capital, Bangkok. Experiencing a tropical climate, the region is hot and humid, with a rainy season which runs from June to October, and a dry season from November to April. The most popular time to visit the River Kwai is during the 'cool season', which runs from November to February, with December and January seeing very limited rainfall. Average temperatures during this period range from 24C to 26C, however nights can be chilly. The period from February to May is known as the 'warm season' as temperature start to rise in March, reaching an average of 27C. May sees increased precipitation, and the beginning of the rainy season, with showers experienced from July to September. During the summer, temperatures rise to an average of 28C, and often reach upwards of 30C. The humidity increases significantly during this period.
