Riva del Garda Things To Do

Riva del Garda Town
Nestled in the North West corner of Lake Garda, Riva del Garda is an impressively elegant town offering a pleasant and practical base for those wishing to explore the area. The town itself is made up of a network of winding streets and waterfront squares.

Café & Parks
With two harbour’s, there certainly isn’t a shortage of cosy cafes, perfect for the famous Italian pass-time of eating ice-cream and watching the world go by. Riva del Garda’s lakeshore also includes relaxing park areas and a clean and safe beach ideal for swimming and sunbathing.

Torre Apponale
For those wishing to enjoy the cultural activities the town offers; start with the thirteenth century watch tower located in the heart of Riva del Garda. This impressive historical landmark – the Torre Apponale – offers the opportunity to absorb some of the most spectacular views of Lake Garda. A reasonably tough climb, but well worth it.

Medieval Fortress
Rocca, the medieval fortress, just above the town, presents an array of entertainment throughout the summer and the leafy park just outside the grounds offers the perfect spot for some shady respite. If you fancy exploring further afield, other lake towns such as Limone and Malcesine are easily reachable by car, ferry or bus. Try taking the cable car from Malcesine to Monte Baldo for breathtaking views and a variety of beautiful walks.

Water Sports
Lake Garda is famous for its water sports and Riva del Garda is no exception when offering those popular aquatic activities such as sailing and windsurfing. Both harbours are well equipped for sailing and boat hire. This boasts to be one of the best places in Italy for windsurfing and both tuition and equipment hire is readily available.

Rock Climbing
With the Dolomites rising up behind the town, energetic pursuits such as rock climbing and hiking are popular. From flat lake walks to the more challenging mountain climbs, there are plenty of options available to all levels of rambler. One hiking trail takes you to the spectacular Cascata Verone, a 100 meter waterfall that is well worth a visit.
