Beaches
The island of Rhodes is home to numerous Blue Flag beaches, from the sheltered spots on the Mediterranean Sea on the east coast, great for swimming and sunbathing, to the windy west coast on the Aegean side, ideal for windsurfing. Whether you're looking for sandy beaches with plenty of facilities or isolated coves ideal for quiet relaxation, there are beaches here to suit everyone.

Water sports
The many resorts on the island offer plenty of opportunities for all manner of water-based sports, from fun family activities such as banana boat rides, jet skis and pedalos, to instruction on wind surfing and water skiing and the exhilarating parasailing and paragliding.

Scuba diving
There are dive centres and schools on Rhodes that now offer scuba-diving, with trips out to designated areas to discover the crystal clear waters and abundance of marine life. Visit tranquil Kalithea Bay and explore the underwater caves and ancient spa baths.

Boat trips and sailing
With its fantastic climate and ideal wind conditions, the clear blue waters around Rhodes offer the chance for boating and sailing around the island, from cruises on skippered yachts to leisurely trips on catamarans and ferry rides to neighbouring Kos, Symi and even Turkey.

Cycling
Hire a bicycle and explore the beaches, towns and countryside of Rhodes, whether you are looking for a leisurely ride to see some sights, or more energetic cycling through mountainous terrain, travelling along the many trails and paths of the island.

Activities and days out
Tennis, horse-riding, hiking, golf and, for the more adventurous, bungee-jumping, can all be enjoyed whilst on holiday in Rhodes. Families activities include go-karting, bowling, mini-golf and even paint-balling, as well as trips to the excellent Water Park in Faliraki or the Aquarium in Rhodes Town.

Places to visit
No trip to the island is complete without a visit the the wonderfully preserved Rhodes Town, a medieval centre complete with fortified walls and charming cobbled streets - a UNESCO world cultural heritage monument. Take a trip to the Palace of the Grand Masters and the Colossus, as well as the beautiful bay of Lindos, the Valley of the Butterflies and Monolithos Castle.
